Tulip Radio is Spalding’s dedicated local radio station which has been serving the community of South Holland since the spring of 2001. Broadcasts began from Springfields to provide coverage of the towns annual Flower Parade. After many successful broadcasts and a few years down the line, we are now located in Spalding’s town centre. Our 2 studios are equipped with the latest broadcasting technology which transmits a strong signal across the area and all of our output is produced LIVE 24 hours a day.
Tulip Radio is proud to be one of the longest serving RSL stations in the U.K with over 10 broadcasts successfully produced over the past 8 years. At present we operate under the RSL status (Restricted Service Licence) and have recently become a licenced full time Community Radio Station for Spalding and South Holland, due to begin broadcasting in early 2009.
Our formula of ‘Keeping South Holland in touch’ is certainly a winner providing the local towns and villages with news and weather bulletins, travel reports, local community events and of course playing the music you want to hear. We are often out and about in and around South Holland conducting Outside Broadcasts and supporting many national and local charities. Community Involvement is something we know a lot about and our online photo gallery certainly shows this with over 1000 photographs currently in the album!
Tulip Radio continues to offer Media Training Courses to the local residents. Session’s enable them to have use of the 2 studios and their facilities. Some of the candidates who opted to take part in the course are now presenting their own show on the station.

Tulip Radio is located in Spalding, Lincolnshire. Its name comes from the fact the area is heavily involved in the flower and growing industry, and Tulips are one flower the town is famous for. In addition, the town hosts the annual Spalding Flower Parade (once named the Tulip parade, and still heavily based on Tulips) every year at the beginning of May.
Spalding is located in the Fens, on the River Welland, about 20 km (12 miles) inland from The Wash. Spalding was once an inland port & is the main market and service town for a large agricultural area whose major product is flower bulbs. More than 50 per cent of all British bulbs come from the area. In spring, the fields full of tulips and daffodils attract admirers from all areas, making the town a centre of tourism.
There is a Flower Parade every May where many major local companies enter a float. Spalding is built in a Dutch style, and is situated in an area traditionally known as South Holland. The Gentlemen's Society of Spalding (1710) is one of the oldest literary and scientific societies in England. Its members have included Sir Isaac Newton and Alexander Pope. The Church of St Mary and St Nicholas (1284) and the 15th-century Ayscoughfee House are notable local buildings.
