CADETS AUTUMN TRAINING
Lincolnshire Army Cadets of 1 and 4 Company, girls and boys, are to have training and testing at Beckingham Training Camp near Newark on the weekend of Friday 25th to Sunday 27th November.
The cadets will be from the Caistor, Cherry Willingham, Coningsby, Gainsborough, Horncastle, Louth, Mablethorpe, Market Rasen, Metheringham, Newport, North Hykeham, North Somercotes and Priory of Lincoln Academy detachments.
Recruits will train on basic drill and turnout, weapon safety, an introduction to map and compass, elements of fieldcraft, camouflage and concealment and history of the Army Cadet Force.
There will also be the opportunity for cadets to train on the confidence course, paint balling and an introduction to the sport of Archery.
One Star and Two Star cadres will allow the cadets requiring odd subjects to be trained and tested to qualify at these levels and include advanced fieldcraft, Military Knowledge and Skill at Arms.
Three and Four Star cadets will assist in the instruction to gain experience in training other cadets and the preparation of a program for teaching practices.
Sunday morning will mainly be spent on the testing of the subjects undertaken at all levels and for some cadets this may mean the completion of a star qualification and possible promotion.
Weekends away are ongoing in the Army Cadet Force and each of the 4 groups in the county go training at least once every two months for the sum of £15 to cover transport, food and accommodation costs.
11 November
CADET INSTRUCTOR TRAINING
Lincolnshire Army Cadet Force is to hold a Battalion Induction Adult Instructor training weekend to be conducted at Beckingham Training camp near Newark over the weekend of Friday 18th to 20th November.
As part of their induction into the Lincolnshire Army Cadet Force new instructors are required to participate in an Adult course which consists of an initial assessment evening, induction weekends and evening training sessions.
The aim of the weekend is based on a mix of classroom and outdoor training, and will include Small Arms Training, Navigation, introduction to the Amy Cadet Force Regulations, the cadet training syllabus and child protection.
They will also be assessed on their suitability and ability, and interviewed regarding what they hope to achieve, their progression, and briefed on the courses and qualifications that are available including Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme, First Aid and educational qualifications.
This is a process which all volunteers have to undertake to ensure they can become dedicated members with the knowledge and experience to train the youth of the county.
7 November
GIRL CADETS SPORTS EVENT
Female cadets of the Lincolnshire Army Cadet Force are to travel to the Norfolk and Suffolk Cadet Training Centre, Thetford, Norfolk on Friday 18th November for the Eastern Region annual girl’s football championships
The competition will be two 5 a side Football Matches of 7 players, to be held at Royal Air Force, Honington over the weekend 19th – 20th November.
The teams, who have been selected from different detachments of the companies, are to travel each day from their accommodation in Thetford to Honington for the event.
All games will be played on a league basis and refereed by qualified local league officials.
Team captain is Sergeant Major Instructor Martin Brammer of Lincoln, the Company Sergeant Major of 1 Company at Sobraon Barracks, Burton Road, Lincoln.
Weekends away are ongoing in the Army Cadet Force and vacancies exist in all detachments for girls and boys of 12 years of age, but in year at school, and older, who would like to join a youth club with a difference.

26 October
CADETS AT REMEMBRANCE PARADE
Army cadets of Lincolnshire Army Cadet Force from the detachments within the county will be on parade on the 13th November to attend the Service of Remembrance in their local area.
They will form up with the Royal British Legion contingents and other service and cadet organisations to pay homage at this annual remembrance for those who have fallen in conflict.
The cadets will attend the service and lay a wreath with the Royal British Legion at their local monument.
This is one of the few occasions that the Army Cadet Force is seen on parade and one on which they are proud to represent the county organisation and display another side of the aspects of youth.
There are 32 detachments in Lincolnshire and there are vacancies in most for new recruits who would care to have more interesting and exciting times during the winter evenings and on some weekends.
Vacancies also exist for Officers and Adult Instructors, with or without service experience as the necessary training will be given.
10 October
CADETS' DUKE OF EDINBURGH EXPEDITION
Army Cadets of Lincolnshire from various detachments in the county, girls and boys, are to have an arduous training and testing week on the Duke of Edinburgh Silver award from 21st to 25th October.
Their base camp will be at Tetford country cottages in the Lincolnshire Wolds where they will establish their base camp for the period of the expedition.
This is their final week during which time they will be assessed on their camp craft, catering for themselves, map and compass navigation and observation of the country code.
Training will commence on Saturday 21st when they will be under scrutiny in the establishment of the camp site, preparing a route card for the first trek and checking their map and compass.
For many this may be the end of their training for their 2 Star training award and certificate and prepare them for the next step in undertaking of the of the Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award.
4 October
EXERCISE “STEELBACK CADET”
Senior Cadets of the Lincolnshire Army Cadet Force will be putting their skills to the test on a training weekend to be held on 14th to 16th October 2011 at Bodney Camp, Thetford, Norfolk.
Attending will be cadets from various detachments, 16 years of age and qualified at their 3 Star level of training.
The exercise is to be coordinated by the 3rd Battalion the Royal Anglian Regiment Territorial Army with support from 1 Royal Anglian, Regular Army and an Army Recruiting Team.
The aim of the weekend is to introduce the cadets to the present equipment and training in a Territorial Army Infantry Battalion and is designed to test the ability of the senior cadets in a safe and challenging environment.
The competition covers team rotation between eleven stands covering military subjects and team night navigation.
There will also be live firing on the Light Support Weapon, a presentation of the Regular Army, Close Quarter Battle procedures, Climbing Wall and an Obstacle Course which will be conducted over the two days.
On Saturday evening there will be an Exercise called Steelback Encounter in which each Cadet Section of 10 cadets, Platoon Commander and Sergeant will complete a tactical patrol activity.
The exercise will end on Sunday 16th October at 12.00hrs when the personnel will enjoy a packed lunch before dispersal to home locations.

CADETS AUTUMN TRAINING
Army cadets of Lincolnshire from the detachments of 2 Squadron and 3 Company, girls and boys, will be putting their skills to the test on a training and testing weekend at Beckingham Camp near Newark from the 14th to 16th October.
The cadets will be from the Billingborough, Boston, Bourne, Crowland, Grantham, Holbeach, Kirton, Long Sutton, Market Deeping, Skegness, Sleaford, Spalding and Stamford detachments.
The aim of the weekend is to teach the cadets the responsibilities and duties of being a Junior Non Commissioned Officer (JNCO), command and leadership skills and prepare them for possible promotion.
The Junior Cadet Instructor’s Cadre (JCIC) has two purposes. Firstly, to train the cadet in the technique of instruction, and secondly, to assess their ability as a potential instructor to train junior cadets.
As an NCO the cadet should be able to prepare a lesson plan and take a lesson in all subjects up to 1 Star and the course will allow for assessment of the cadets ability accordingly with gradings given for each subject.
On Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning they will be instructed on exercise preparation and planning and usage of map and compass for navigation and a general discussion on military tactics.
26 September
DUKE OF EDINBURGH AWARD TRAINING
Adult members of the Lincolnshire Army Cadet Force will be undertaking training relative to the Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme at Beckingham Training Centre near Newark over the weekend 7th to 9th October 2011.
This will be an introduction to the Award Scheme given by Major Deborah Clark, the County Award Officer, and prepare them to advise cadets for their silver expedition to be held from 21st to 29th October.
There will also be an update on changes recently made within the scheme that include more aspects of the cadet training syllabus, many subjects of which can be included for the award in the scheme up to Gold level.
Many cadets within the county achieve this award at Bronze, Silver and Gold and their achievements are recorded at each stage and are an indication of their commitment to furthering their knowledge and maturity.
These awards are also accepted as National Vocational Qualifications by employers and give a background to the cadet’s commitment and responsibilities.
21 September
ARMY CADET COMPETITION
Army cadets of 3 Company of the Lincolnshire Army Cadet Force are to attend their Annual Poyser/ Sullivan skills competition on the weekend 30th September to 2nd October at Beckingham Training camp near Newark, Nottinghamshire.
Detachments will be represented by teams from Billingborough, Boston, Crowland, Holbeach, Kirton, Long Sutton, Skegness and Spalding.
The aim of the competition is to create a challenging weekend in both physical and mental situations in a military concept comprising Administration skills, Fieldcraft, First Aid, Practical Navigation, Navigation Questionnaire, Paintball, Air Rifle Shooting Command Tasks and Drill.
Captain Nick Watson the Company Commander of 3 Company will make the presentation on behalf of the Poyser/ Sullivan families who awarded the trophy in memory of family members who served in the Parachute Regiment in the 39 – 45 War.

CADETS AUTUMN ADVENTURE
Lincolnshire Army Cadets, girls and boys, from various detachments within the county are to have adventure training and testing on an expedition weekend in the Lincolnshire Wolds over the weekend 16th to 18th September.
This will be to train and assess the 2 Star cadets at Map and compass and Adventure Training for the cadets undertaking their training for the Bronze and Silver Award of the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme.
Their base will be a camp site at East Barkwith in the Lincolnshire Wolds where they will be split into various groups and directed to their camping areas.
Training will commence on Friday evening with the setting up of the camp, erection of tents and over the next two days will include map and compass navigation, orientation, camp craft and the country code.
Weekends away are ongoing in the Army Cadet Force and each of the 4 groups in the county go training at least once every two months for the sum of £15 to cover transport, accommodation and food costs.
11 July
CADETS ANNUAL ADVENTURE
Lincolnshire Army Cadets will be boarding luxury coaches on Sunday 31st July at the various detachments in the county when they will be heading for Deverell Barracks, Ripon, West Yorkshire for their annul camp which is to be held over the period 31st July to 11th August.
Enthusiasm and anticipation is building up among the cadets as they look forward to the 12 days of military training, sport, target rifle shooting, exercises on the nearby training areas and recreation.
Camp craft, Map and compass navigation, drill, confidence course, fieldcraft, patrolling and adventure training is included in the comprehensive training programme prepared by the Deputy Commandant (Training), Lieutenant Colonel Ian Sacree and County Training Officer, Major Michael Coleman.
There will also be an extensive Commandant’s 3 day exercise for senior cadets, 1, 2, and 3 Star Expeditions, Youth First Aid and Community Sports Leadership Award.
In rotation they will also enjoy the pleasure of abseiling, adventure training expeditions, hill walking, kayaking, mountain biking, orienteering and rock climbing.
For the evening entertainment there will be quizzes, competitive sports, county military competitions, visits to the NAAFI canteen and a disco on the last evening.
Monday 8th August will be the Camp Visitors and county activity day leading up to the Commandant’s Final Camp Parade on Tuesday with presentation for the winners of the camp held competitions, medals and other awards.
All these activities are included in a full and action packed programme at the minimal cost of £70.00 per person, which includes, food, accommodation, travel and the best of instruction.
CADETS WEEKEND TRAINING
Most detachments in the county have vacancies for girls and boys, aged 12 years of age but in year 8 at school, and over, who could accept the challenge of something different than the usual youth club activities on a weekend.
There are also vacancies for Officers and Adult Instructors, with or without military service, who may have the time to train the youth of the county in a worthwhile organization.
Training weekends away from home are ongoing in the Army Cadet Force and vacancies exist in all detachments for girls and boys of 12 years of age and in year 8 at school, and older, who would like to join a youth club with a difference.
